OUR MISSION AS A SOCIAL IMPACT BUSINESS

In 2010, co-founders Matt and Laura Parker moved their family from Colorado to Thailand to direct a children's home, where they were exposed to the issue of human trafficking and began networking with counter-trafficking NGO's and local law enforcement involved in intervention work. After building a relationship with authorities, Matt offered to collect information for the local police, posing as a customer in a brothel, in hopes to assemble enough information to justify police-led raids. Following the success of these undercover operations, the Parkers founded The Exodus Road as a registered non-profit in 2012.

WHY CARS?

Elijah (Jay's) passion for cars began when he went to his first car show as a child. The obsession all started with a 1990 Lamborghini Diablo, where he was convinced, it was a time traveling machine. His love for fancy cars could not be satisfied simply by seeing them at car shows. He started cleaning cars and perfecting his attention to detail when he was in his teens for extra cash, which fueled his dream of turning his passion into a successful business. Your car is more than just a mode of transportation, it is a member of your family, a best friend, and a major investment! And like anything you care deeply for you want it to look and feel it's best. Although we cannot bring your car to the future, we can take it back in time to when it first looked brand new with a professional car detailing service!

JAY'S STORY

Born and raised on the south side of Milwaukee with limited resources and opportunities, Jay’s early life was marked by challenge after challenge. As a neurodivergent kid — autistic with ADHD — he struggled both behaviorally and academically, unable to read or write until around the age of 10. A sledding accident later caused a severe traumatic brain injury, robbing him of his once-loved ability in math. It was around this time he was also diagnosed with dyslexia.

Constantly on the move, rarely in one place for long, and with few real friendships growing up, Jay turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms just to get by. Addiction, run-ins with the law — it was a dark road that nearly defined him.

Until it didn’t.

In his late 20s, Jay made a choice: to rewrite his story. “Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” doesn’t even begin to cover it. He left everything behind — no support, no safety net — and moved to Colorado to start over from scratch. And he didn’t just survive; he built a life of meaning, grit, and impact.

Jay became the first and only member of his family to graduate college, beat addiction, and rise into a leadership role in his community. His entrepreneurial spirit led him into the automotive world, where he managed a car dealership and developed an obsessive passion for car care and protection.

He trained under some of the biggest names in the industry — including the exclusive detailer with Maserati and Bugatti, who also served as a Rupes Training facilitator. (The inventors of the very first polishing machine.) Today, he’s the founder and force behind J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing, where the standard is excellence and the finish is always flawless — from a hand wash to a full ceramic coating.

But his real mission goes beyond cars.

Jay now dedicates his time and energy to mentoring others — coaching, educating, and supporting individuals who, like him, have felt lost or written off. Especially troubled youth who just need someone to believe in them and show them a different path. In addition to supporting The Exodus Road to help end human suffering he also contributes to a number of local nonprofits from addiction recovery to entrepreneurial growth.

He’s living proof that with love, compassion, and relentless drive, you can turn pain into purpose — and purpose into legacy.

4/23 – The Day that changed me forever.

Dedicated to the fire that refined me

Some days split time in half—
into who you were before,
and who you are after.

April 23rd was that day. The day we first met.

She was everything I thought I was building toward.
Beautiful, sharp, magnetic—
a presence that made me believe in forever.

I was all in.
No backup plan. No second thoughts.
Just belief—an inner knowing that she was my everything. My own personal brand of heroin. I was hooked and in the worst way possible.

But some lessons arrive wrapped in charm,
and leave with sharp edges.

She didn’t slip away quietly.
Her exit was scorched into my memory,
a blaze set with a single spark:
That started with a discard, followed by a full-fledged character assassination

Words that cut deeper than any blade.
Sharper than steel. Each assault a nail hammered down to seal my casket.
They split my world apart, and I bled out silently in the aftermath.

I felt I had been broken into a million tiny pieces.
But what I eventually realized—
is the only thing truly shattered… was my ego.

The mirror she held up in front of me?
It was a gift.
A brutal, honest, necessary gift of self-reflection.
A reminder to set down the baggage of past hurts—
the kind I’d been lugging around,
covered in coping mechanisms that no longer served me.
That version of me had to die…
so something new could be reborn.

The months that followed weren’t dark.
They were pitch black.
Lonely in a way that gnaws at your bones.
I was surrounded by people but buried under silence.
No roadmap. Just echoes of “not enough” bouncing off every wall of my mind.

But rock bottom is sacred ground.
It’s where real ones rebuild.

And in the ruins of what broke me, I found the blueprint. A catalyst to healing.
I laid brick by brick with blistered hands and swollen pride—
not to prove her wrong, but to finally prove myself right.

What started as a distraction—just something to keep my mind busy—
became my lifeline.
When I was at my lowest, I didn’t turn to meditation … I turned to detailing; busy my hands to quiet my mind.
Each car was a remedial work of art.
Each swirl I corrected felt like reclaiming a part of myself.
There was peace in the process, purpose in the repetition, and healing in the shine.
Detailing wasn’t just a service—it was survival.
It gave my mind structure when my heart was mayhem.
It became the quiet place where my soul could breathe again.

J9’s was born in the wreckage.
A simple hustle turned calling.
A broken man’s way of finding clarity in chaos,
now a brand built on purpose, impact, and legacy.

Through that pain, I became someone people count on.
A lifter of spirits. A light-bringer for those lost in their own shadows.
Every person who has stood beside me—
in the shop, in the storm, or in the struggle—
has felt that ripple.
I don’t just build businesses. I build belief. Relationship. A path forward.
I plant legacy in the hearts of the people who believed in me when I barely could. I found that the only person who would never abandon me, was me. To love myself, even though or perhaps to spite that fact that she wouldn’t.

So yeah—
April 23rd was the day it all ended.
But more importantly…
it’s the day everything began.

The fire that devastated me
became the light that guides others. To rise from the ashes and be forged by the flame. A reminder that in the darkness a seed grows.

Pain doesn’t just teach—it frees you to do the impossible.
